Busking Festival Maffeo Sutton Park

Woodstock West
Busking Festival Saturday

On Saturday, September 5, 2009, the Society is organizing the Beat of the Street Busking Festival in the Lions Waterfront Pavilion at Maffeo Sutton Park from 2pm to 8 pm. Billed as Woodstock West, organizer Cathy Davis calls it the start of “a new era for busking in Nanaimo, busking Canadian style”. The lineup is:

* Willie Thrasher – Native busker
* The Owl and The Pussy Cat – eclectic parodies in song
* The Cunningham Family – Celtic and family oriented
* The Grey Notes – original blues and classic rock
* ID3 – homegrown hip hop
* Handsome and the Horribles – original rock
* Myles Black and the Pearly Whites – folk rock and more

All buskers present will be invited to play. It will be free, fun, and a “Happening”. Sing, dance, and collect free hugs.
