Drug Bust On Cadogan Street

RCMP members attempting to locate and arrest a break and enter suspect on the weekend were rewarded not only with her arrest but with the seizure of a significant amount of ecstasy and heroin.

Officers following up on a break and enter from Saturday, attended a known drug house on Cadogan St and as luck would have it, the person they were looking for happened to drive by in a passing vehicle. Members got in their cars and stopped the vehicle a short distance away .The female age 28, a passenger in the vehicle, was promptly arrested for Break and Enter stemming from an incident on Cypress St Saturday afternoon.

During her arrest, a pack sack was located in the vehicle and inside it almost 500 grams of ecstasy and approximately 30 grams of heroin was located. The female, a 25 year old male and a 34 year old male were all arrested in connection with the drugs and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act(CDSA).

All were taken into custody and later that night were released from custody on Promise to Appears. They are scheduled to make their first appearance in Nanaimo Provincial court on December 15th.

Editor's Comment: As a Cadogan Street resident I find little comfort that obvious 'known' break and enter types are back out on my street for the next three months on the 'promise' they will appear this Decemeber. I wonder if they also promised not to break into any more houses? The newspaper article said the names were not going to be released until they appeared in court. They say justice is supposed to be blind, but in this case I gotta question it's intelligence also !
