The Nanaimo Arts Council presents ‘The Creative Muse from Different Perspectives’ on May 8th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Harbourfront library. This Creative Currents session features producer/director Arlene Blundell, artistic director/dance Holly Bright, and writer Judith Millar. Listen and learn about their experiences, their passion, what inspires them, as well as their future creative pursuits. The panel discussion promises to be lively, interactive, entertaining and informative session.

Arlene Blundell has worked in community and professional theatre in Nanaimo for many years. She has acted in, directed, and produced many shows for Nanaimo Theatre Group and Echo Players. While teaching English and Theatre at secondary level, she managed After Eight Dinner Theatre for 13 years and worked with community theatre in Duncan and Nanaimo. Since retiring, she has worked with TheatreOne and manages UBetcha!

Holly Bright is a performer and dance educator. She holds a BA in Dance and a BSc in Human Physiology, and is a certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst. Holly is the founder and director of The Crimson Coast Dance Society, an organization that supports contemporary dance in Nanaimo. In 2010, Holly was recognized by the City of Nanaimo with the Excellence in Culture Award for her contribution to the cultural fabric of the city.

Judith Millar is a writer of short stories, essays, poems, and song lyrics. She has won numerous awards for her creative writing, including the 2009 John Kenneth Galbraith Literary Award. Judith won first prize in the 2009 Nanaimo Short Fiction contest, and was a finalist in the 2009 Writers’ Union of Canada Short Prose Competition.
