On Wednesday, 2012-FEB-22, the City of Nanaimo’s Heritage Commission will be hosting a Heritage Summit at the Nanaimo Museum (100 Museum Way) from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The purpose of the summit is to heighten awareness in the community during National Heritage Week (FEB 20-26), as well as network with other local organizations interested in heritage issues.

The event will be separated into two parts. The first part will include a presentation on the history of power generation in the Nanaimo area, in recognition of the Provincial Heritage Week Theme “Energy in BC – A Powerful Past, a Sustainable Future”.

The remainder of the evening will be devoted to a round table discussion allowing heritage groups in attendance to share information about their organization’s mandate, recent accomplishments and upcoming projects. The public is welcome to attend.
