The City received good interest from potential candidates for the position of Communications Manager from within Nanaimo as well as the rest of British Columbia and five other provinces and territories. The Communications Manager will seek to improve the accessibility of information from the City to the community it serves by developing communications policies, by establishing excellent working relationships with those on City staff and those in the media and by identifying opportunities to support the pro-active distribution of information using the most appropriate media.

The City will continue its current practice of subject area experts speaking directly to the media, as appropriate, in support of Council adopted policy.
