NEDC Rolls Out New Brand

The Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation (NEDC) unveiled its new brand “Nanaimo. Infinite Possibilities.” on Thursday February 14, 2013.

The brand, developed with Impact Visual Communications of Nanaimo included community consultation, research, development of brand standards, a logo, tag line and templates.
Nanaimo is our brand. The logo was designed with six symbols which represent the inclusivity, economic opportunity and the diversity of our community.

The symbols include;

Leaf - represents clean technology, eco-tourism, the environment, growth and Aboriginal heritage
Home- represents residential, community, hospitality, and lifestyle;
Star- represents arts, culture and sport tourism
Square - represents industry, investment, and retail;
Diamond/Grad Hat - represents education and a skilled workforce
Sail – represents marine activity, harbour, nearby Islands

"Many communities are vying to attract new economic opportunities in an incredibly competitive field.” said Sasha Angus, NEDC CEO. “We needed a strong and distinct brand for our Region. The ‘Infinite Possibilities’ positioning provides excellent applications for both Economic Development and Tourism.”

The mission of the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation is to build a prosperous community through economic opportunity.
