Snowfall Warning Nanaimo

Snowfall Warning
Issued at 4:07 a.m. PST Saturday 29 November 2014

An arctic air mass over the BC Interior is forcing cold air out of the mainland valleys and inlets, including Howe Sound and the Fraser Valley. As the cold air moved across the Strait of Georgia, it picked up moisture and snow streamers or squalls have developed. These will give widely varying amounts of snow but local accumulations of 10cm over southern portions of East Vancouver Island and portions of the Gulf Islands are expected. Snow will ease later this morning and clearing is expected later today as the airmass dries.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio.
