Pickpocket Suspect Sought

Woman police suspect of pickpocketing

RCMP are warning that two women are targeting seniors on Vancouver Island and Nanaimo and may be responsible for at least five incidents from Courtenay to Langford.

The women are described as being dark skinned and possibly of East European descent. They demonstrate a high level of skill and likely have done this on numerous occasions.

In Nanaimo on Nov. 19 a 68-year-old woman was the victim of the pair who stand behind their target at a checkout line and observe the pin number. They then followed the woman outside the store where they picked her pocket and withdrew a large amount of money using the victims credit card. In this case the victim only became aware when her credit card company contacted her.

If you have any information you are asked to contact the RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
