Sasha Angus Stepping Down Oct. 1/15

NEDC CEO Stepping Down in Fall

NANAIMO, British Columbia: Today, the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation (NEDC) announced that it has received notice from its CEO, Sasha Angus, that he will be stepping down from the role later this year.

"It has been a privilege to work closely with our board, staff, Council and community stakeholders over the past three years," said Sasha Angus, CEO of the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation. "This made it a very difficult decision to make, but ultimately considerations regarding my family and our health must come first. I still strongly believe that our region has incredible potential and a bright future ahead of it. Given its progress in the past few years, I believe that the NEDC will play a significant role in the progress and prosperity that the region will enjoy in the coming years."

Angus will continue as Chief Executive Officer with the corporation until October 1 and will assist with the transition during the search for a new CEO. After October, he and his family will be relocating to Victoria to support new opportunities that have presented themselves for the family.

"The board was very sorry to receive Sasha's notice, he will be sorely missed," said Andre Sullivan, Chair of the NEDC. "He has played a leading role in the corporation's success over the past few years, developing a number of the significant projects in the community."

The board of the NEDC will be striking a search committee and will be working with a recruitment firm to help identify a new CEO. It is anticipated that this process will conclude by November. During the transition, day-to-day operations will also be supported by the board and senior staff of the NEDC.
