Bonfire Permits Needed for Halloween & Guy Fawkes

Fireworks in Nanaimo are strictly prohibited

The City of Nanaimo Fire Rescue Department would like to inform residents that a Bonfire Permit is required for  Halloween on October 31st and for Guy Fawkes Night on November 5th 2015.  These are one-time special event permits and separate applications are required for each event. In addition, residents need to be aware that the sale, possession, and discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited.

The regulations for the bonfires, and application forms can only be filled out and submitted in person to 580 Fitzwilliam Street.  Deadline is Friday October 30th at noon for Halloween and Noon on November 5th for Guy Fawkes.    Fees for these one time only special event permits have been waived.

We would also like to remind everyone that Halloween is a fun, and spooky time of year for kids.  If children are wearing a mask, make sure they can see, give the kids a flashlight or glow stick so they can be seen.

The sale, transportation and discharging of fireworks within the City of Nanaimo is strictly prohibited, and subject to fines.

Keep the kids safe by ensuring they can see out of their masks, while carrying a flashlight or glow stick. Also, don't forget to change your batteries in your working smoke alarm this weekend as the clocks go backwards.
