Dale Schulz -"Nanaimo" - "As he sees it" - June 15/16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - June 15/16

We had some mixed weather on our walk today and once again the skies were fantastic with big fluffy white clouds AND brooding grey ones. I was trying to get the sky into a lot of shots today but also took some close-ups.

In Harewood - on Stirling Avenue I shot the Black and White of the corner of an old fence.
On our way downtown I took a picture of the 'Racquetball Courts' building - I love that mirrored wall as well as the vines growing up the side.

The back of the Dorchester Hotel made for a nice geometric statement - from Bastion Street - and I also shot a pic of Indy checking out the plants in the garden of the Coast Bastion Hotel.

On the waterfront Indy and I stepped down onto the docks and got a couple shots of the Lighthouse Bistro and beside it the Pacifica as well as a couple of boats and water. The red floats are on prawn fishing boats I think.

We also walked around Cameron Island and checked out a large boat moored there - the 'Pacific Yellowfin' - I took a picture of it's anchor.

We came home via the South End - I took a picture of a lovely flower on Halliburton Street; then down 7th Street where I took a shot of Mt. Benson with incoming clouds.
