Perhaps if the design was more attractive and similar to a wonderful building such as the new Vancouver Convention centre with floor to ceiling view windows and seawalk around it I would have voted YES. No to a disaster design of no view and lack of attraction but paying lip service to those we have harmed for over 150 years. Shame.
We won! We WON!It is past time for mayor and council listen to the people.
To demonstrate that they understand the error of their ways the following officials should apologize to the public and/or seriously consider resigning:Bill Bestwick, for leading this expensive parade in the absence of proper consultation with the voters to find out whether they were seriously interested in exclusively paying for an EC because the city's own poll revealed they were not:City Manager Samra. For working with BB to promote his vision rather than insisting upon a proper determination of priorities and a proper assessment of public opinion before throwing one million dollars down the drain in pursuit of the ill-conceived EC vision. Chief Financial officer Mema: dittoMayor McKay: For not providing leadership on the EC issue and for not even making his position on the EC clear until the day after the vote.Any other councillor who supported the decision to spend up to one million dollars on the way to a referendum, including the extensive city propaganda campaign not even thinly disguised as "information."
