Empire Days Parade Packs Downtown Nanaimo
As the above file photo clearly shows, you have to get downtown early to get a spot along the parade route. This year will be no exception.
This year there will be a pancake breakfast and lots of fun activities for the kids in Diana Krall Plaza on parade day.

12 noon – Proclamation and flag rising – Pioneer Plaza
Friday May 16 – 7:00 pm
Crowning of 2014 May Queen and reception Branch 256 Legion
Saturday May 17
10:00 am Nanaimo Museum tour
11:45 am May Queen fires cannon Waterfront Plaza
1:00 pm to 4:00 pm – HMCS Nanaimo arrives at the visitors pier
2:00 pm May Queen visits Military Museum
Sunday May 18
9:00am – Pancake breakfast in Diana Krall Plaza
10:30am – Children’s activities in Diana Krall Plaza
12 noon – St. Paul’s Anglican Church hot dog sale
12:45pm – Bastion Running Club, Bastion Mile Race downtown
1pm – 147th annual Empire Days Parade – traditional route through downtown
10pm – “Fireworks over the Harbour” – Nanaimo Waterfront
